What’s Worth Living For?

Xiomara Florencio Leave a Comment

Pastor Joshua implores the church to think about what is worth living for, and what is worth dying for. What are we willing to believe in so wholeheartedly, that we would dedicate our lives and be willing to sacrifice them as well. Is it Jesus?

Romans 14:8-9 New Living Translation
8 If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.

Principle: Without clarity, the journey can seem meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 1:2 New International Version
2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”

Principle: Without something to live for, we lose our drive and determination.

Principle: We can live for something superficial, but that focus won’t last.

Proverbs 14:12 New Living Translation
12 There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.

Matthew 16:26 New Living Translation
26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

Psalm 42:1-2 New International Version
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Principle: The greatest and most encompassing thing is to seek God, to find God, and to please God.

John 15:13 New Living Translation
13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Principle: When someone is lukewarm in their faith, they are missing the passion behind the mission of Jesus.

Revelation 3:16 New Living Translation
16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

Proverbs 28:1 New Living Translation
1 The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.

Principle: God wants to make us BOLD.

Principle: Righteousness will make you BOLD.

Principle: Jesus didn’t promise easy; He promised transformation and redemption.

Joshua 24:15 King James Version
15 …as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Psalm 91:1-2 New Living Translation
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
