Guest speaker Minister Robert Rivera speaks on how to develop a heart that remains unshakable in the midst’s of a great shaking.
Proverbs 4:23 NLT
23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Jeremiah 17:9 NIV
9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Principle: An Unshakable Heart is a Tested Heart.
Jeremiah 17:10 NIV
10 I the Lord SEARCH (chaqar – to probe deeply) the heart and examine (the ESV says, test) the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.
Deuteronomy 8: 2;5;16 NIV
2 Remember, how the Lord LED you all the way in the wilderness these 40 years, to humble you and test you, in order to know what was in your heart. 5 Know then, in your heart, that as a man disciplines his
son, so the Lord disciplines you. 16… so that in the end it will go well with you. Some of us feel like we’ve been in this wilderness for a long time. Lot’s of prayer and tears have been shed in this desert. Will anything ever change? What is the purpose of all of this? How much longer will I have to wait?
Principle: An Unshakable Heart is a Surrendered Heart.
Psalms 51:1:16-17 KJV
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your loving kindness; according to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 16 For you do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it… 17 The Sacrifice of God, are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, these o God, you will not despise.
Matthew 6:14 NIV
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Psalm 147:3 NIV
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 34:18 NIV
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and SAVES those who are crushed in spirit.”
Saves – yāsha – the root word of Yeshua
Core meaning
yāshaʿ means:
to rescue
to deliver
to bring into a wide, safe place
to remove from danger, oppression, or distress
to grant relief that results in freedom and restoration
It does not mean merely:
emotional comfort only
encouragement without change
spiritual reassurance without intervention
It means real deliverance.
In Hebrew thought, yāshaʿ carries a powerful picture:
Being pulled out of confinement
Being removed from crushing pressure
Being set free into space where you can breathe again
Being rescued when you cannot rescue yourself
That’s crucial because the verse says:
“the crushed in spirit”
The verb yāshaʿ answers the condition directly:
crushed → rescued
trapped → brought out
overwhelmed → delivered
Hebrews 7:25 ESV
25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
Greek: εἰς τὸ παντελὲς (eis to panteles)
Meaning:
o completely
o fully
o to the very end
o lacking nothing
o without remainder
2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV
9 For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
1 Samuel 30:6 NIV
6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
Principle: An Unshakable Heart is a Transformed Heart
1 Samuel 10:6 NIV
6 The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.
Ezekiel 36:26 NIV
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Hebrews 3:15 NIV
15 Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
