Fruit-Full: What Does Your Fruit Look Like?

Pastor Joshua preaches a powerful word on the difference between spiritual and fleshly fruit and the importance of recognizing the fruit we carry.

Galatians 5:22-23 New Living Translation
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Nomos: a law or rule producing a state approved by God.

2 Timothy 2:15 New Living Translation
15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

Matthew 3:17 New International Version
17 …“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

God said two things…

  1. I love my son
  2. I’m well pleased with Him.

Matthew 3:17 New International Version
17 …“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Principle: Our desire should be to please the Father.

Principle: If we want to have approval from God, we need to develop the right fruit profile.

Galatians 5:16-17 New Living Translation
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

Principle: There are two forces at work: the sinful nature and the Holy Spirit.

Principle: When you develop the fruit profile that comes from the Holy Spirit, it pleases the Father.

Galatians 5:19-23 New Living Translation
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish
ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Principle: We’re all making choices that bring us closer to or farther from God.

Principle: God’s love is unconditional. God‘s presence is conditional.

Principle: Repentance draws us close to God, sin pulls us away.

Galatians 5:22-23 New Living Translation
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
