One Body, One People

Pastor Joshua continues on the series of Community to express the importance of how believers are meant to be unified as the body of Christ.

John 17:21 New Living Translation
21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one…

1 Corinthians 6:19 New Living Translation
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?…

Romans 12:5 New International Version
5…so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Principle: We are many, but we are one.

1 Corinthians 12:25-27
25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Principle: We are meant to be multifaceted, but not divided.

1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Principle: Together is better!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for
their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity
anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Principle: There’s strength when we are together.

1 Corinthians 1:10 New International Version
10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

1 John 1:7 New International Version
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Principle: Stay in the light. Stay in fellowship.

Galatians 6:2 New International Version
2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Principle: Carry each other’s burdens.

Hebrews 10:24-25 New International Version
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Principle: We consider how we can challenge and encourage one another.
