Apostle Duane Swilley preaches on the last Sunday of the year to expect the unexpected in the new year as the Lord does something different in your life.
Principle: God is preparing you to do the unexpected by doing a great job where you are.
Principle: The unexpected comes when whenever God is given you to do you are doing with all your might.
Principle: It’s all about windows and doors of opportunity. Many times God will show it to you first before he opens the door.
1 Kings 19:19-21 Amplified Bible
19 … Elijah went over to him and threw his mantle (coat) on him. 20 He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Please let me kiss my father and mother [goodbye], then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go on back; for what have I done to [stop] you?” 21 So Elisha left him and went back. Then he took a pair of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their meat with the implements of the oxen [as fuel], and gave the meat to the people, and they ate. Then he stood and followed Elijah, and served him.
Principle: The unexpected usually shows up in your life through relationships.
Principle: But I tend to think that Mary was actually NOT asking for a miracle. Instead, she was grumbling about a problem, and Jesus rebuked here for NOT realizing that he could fix the problem.
Principle: Jesus was rebuking Mary for grumbling right at the start of his public ministry, when he was free to do whatever he chose to do, in accord with his Father’s will, of course.
Isaiah 43:18-19 Complete Jewish Bible
18 “Stop dwelling on past events and brooding over times gone by; 19 I am doing something new; it’s springing up — can’t you see it? I am making a road in the desert, rivers in the wasteland.
Principle: The unexpected could have been easy for Saul but he was so committed to what he was in his past. It was difficult for him to embrace the unexpected.
1 Corinthians 2:9 New International Version
9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—
Principle: The unexpected is uncomfortable, but full of adventure.
Principle: As a matter of fact, it is the supernatural intervention of God that gives you the unexpected. And that is to give you God’s expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 King James Version
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
