Guest speaker, Minister Robert Rivera preaches about the fruit the believer holds and how that fruit is developed over time, making us responsible to use those fruit to serve the Kingdom.
Mark 11:12-14
12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
Principle – It’s not enough to say we are Christians we must have fruit that shows we are.
Matthew 7:17-20
17…every good tree bears good fruit… thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Luke 13:6–9
6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ 8 “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it.
9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”
Principle –Every tree must produce fruit in the window of time given to it.
John 15:1-2
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.
Principle – Cut or pruned, either way it’s going to hurt; we might as well be fruitful.
Galatians 5:22–23
22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, 23 goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
1 Peter 4:10
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Romans 12:6-8
6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, [b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Principle – Inward fruit leads to outwards fruit.
James 2:18
18 … some will say ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”
Principle – Often the things that keep us from producing fruit are not visible. They are hidden underground.
Isaiah 61:1
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, [a].
Matthew 12:33
33 Make the tree good and its fruit will be good…
Principle – Real fruit is the results of a healed heart, not behavior modification.
