Pastor Joshua talks about how to combat anxiety.

Sermon Notes:

Matthew 6:25-33 New Living Translation

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Principle: We live in a faithless generation.

Matthew 17:17 New Living Translation

17 Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”

Mark 9:19 New Living Translation

19 Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

Worries:

Philippians 4:19 New Living Translation

19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Principle: I don’t have to worry about my needs, I just need to have faith.

Principle: If I do my part God is going to do His part.

Serving God or Serving Money:

Matthew 6:24 New Living Translation

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

Question: Will I make Money the dominating thought or is my belief in God the dominate thought?

Principle: Money can’t be where you put your trust

Trust:

Proverbs 3:5-6 New Living Translation

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

6 Seek his will in all you do,

and he will show you which path to take.

Principle: When we trust in the Lord with all our heart He’s going to some us the right path.

Principle: When we lean on my own understanding it is a faulty foundation.

Principle: We have to learn to trust God.

He Loves Us More:

Principle: You can rest in the fact that God loves you more.

A Life of Faith NOT Anxiety:

1 Peter 5:7 New Living Translation

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

1 Peter 5:7 New International Version

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Principle: When we lay down our anxiety before God, He will sustain us
