Francesca Fraser discusses the condition of our hearts and how that affects everything we do.

Proverbs 27:19
As a face is reflected in water,
so, the heart reflects the real person.

Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. (NLT)

Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it. (NIV)

Mark 7:20
And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you.

Mark 7:21
For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder,

Mark 7:22
adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.

Mark 7:23
All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.” (NLT)

The heart is the center of the intellect:

The Bible describes people as knowing (Dt 8:5)

Deuteronomy 8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.

The Bible describes people as meditating in the heart (Ps 19:14)

Psalms 19:14
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

We can hide God’s word in our heart.

Psalms 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

All of these abilities of the Heart involve the Mind.

The heart is the center of our emotions
The Bible speaks about having a glad heart (Exodus 4:14)
The repentant heart
Psalms 51:17
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

The angry heart (Pro 19:3)

The anxious heart (Proverbs 12:25)
All of these actions are emotional in nature

The heart is the center of the human will:
We read in God’s word about the hardened heart that resist God and refuses to do what he commands.

Exodus 4:21
And the LORD told Moses, “When you arrive back in Egypt, go to Pharaoh and perform all the miracles I have empowered you to do. But I will harden his heart so he will refuse to let the people go.

Psalms 81:12
So, I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.

The heart that is yielded, or submitted to God

Joshua 24:23
“All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel.”

We have our own form of idols—greed, wrong priorities, jealousies, prejudices—that get in the way of worshiping God. God is not satisfied if we merely hide these idols.

The heart that is devoted to pursuing a deeper relationship with God.

1 Chronicles 22:19
“Now seek the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.”

All of these are acts of the human will.

The nature and condition of the heart apart from God (Diseased)

Jeremiah 17:9
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,
and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is?

Jeremiah 17:10
But I, the LORD, search all hearts
and examine secret motives. (NLT)

The Spiritually renewed heart. A new pure Heart: # Salvation

Ezekiel 11:19
And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart,

Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

God promised to restore Israel not only physically, but spiritually.
To accomplish this, God would give them a new heart for following him
-and put his Spirit within them to transform them and empower them to do his will.

Heart of Flesh is a heart that is:
Tender and receptive
a heart that will respond to God’s word
a teachable and pliable, moldable
a heart that desires the things of God
a heart that breaks for the
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart
