I am trying to find out what God tells us about worshipping other or pagan/false Gods. My boyfriend does not believe me about Halloween, he thinks it is okay to celebrate, but I was strictly taught otherwise.

      Hi Amanda,
I know we have some pretty ingrained traditions in America and it can be difficult to take a step back and take a good look at what something really is. There is a pretty dark history and background behind the candy and trick or treating. I like to always point people in the right direction. If we are celebrating the harvest season with pumpkins and get togethers and games for the kids, I think that’s great. I believe all Christian can agree God is the Lord of The Harvest. There is no problem there. If we are talking about celebrate death and ghost and all manner of ugly things we may just want to pause and ask does that have a place in our Christian walk and what we want to introduce into our families and homes? There are plenty reasons and ways to celebrate God. I have always been a strong proponent of if you are going to take something away, give something even better. Our church has done all kinds of things over the years to celebrate God and the harvest season/blessing He makes possible. As Christian families we should create environments that are consistent with our faith position. I hope that helps.

hey Pastor Joshua, Ive grown up all my life in LA and all of my friends are catholic. I was raised in church my father was a pastor and so was my grandfather and great grandfather. My question to you is how do you respond to people that believe the path they are following is correct? the bible clearly states to not worship false gods or idols, but yet we see many Catholics and others as well praying to these idols. see the relationship we have we god is very different. I felt a change in relationship with god when i accepted Jesus christ in my life. But how do you approach people that have believed that the path that they have followed for so long is not the correct path. i fear for many of my friends who have not accepted Jesus in their life. many prophecies have passed and i fear when Jesus comes to take his people many of my beloved friends and family will face the torment of the aint-christ.

          Hey Isaiah,
That’s awesome…another pk! My advise would be to wait for your God moment to share faith. Normally the Holy Spirit will give us a moment when someone is open and receptive. I like to challenge a thought process without making the person feel attacked or ambused. When the Holy Spirit leads with the timing it always feel more organic and less forced. I would take your friend on a journey (one on one). Show them what you see in the gospels and ask them questions about where they see Jesus or the apostles command or even admonish believers to pray to anyone besides the trinity. When we take it back to scripture it always gets clearer. – Pastor Joshua

I believe no need to waste time finding out about other gods if you already found the one and only true God. If you wish to help others know him, live godly so you can shine on others. GOD bless ❣
