Acts 19:1-6 NLT
1 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior
regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found
several believers. 2 “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?” he asked them.
“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy
Spirit.”
3 “Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked.
And they replied, “The baptism of John.”
4 Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But
John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come
later, meaning Jesus.”
5 As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the
Lord Jesus. 6 Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy
Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and
prophesied.
Principle: God has intended us to be a community that hears His
voice and communicates His heart.
Prophecy Defined:
Principle: Prophecy doesn’t always sound the same.
Principle: We should have an expectation that God will speak
through us but not have an expectation of how.
Is It Needed?
Principle: Prophecy is essential in the life of a Christian
One Word:
Principle: One word from God can change everything.
Matthew 16:13-18 New Living Translation
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked
his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say
Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”
15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the
living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because
my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this
from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter
(which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and
all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
