Power of the Tongue part 1
Intro:
Proverbs 18:21 New King James Version
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Principle: Your activation lies in the power of the tongue.
The Creative Tongue – Created in His Image:
Genesis 1:1 New Living Translation
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:27 New Living Translation
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Principle: There are all kinds of worlds that you and I can create with the power of our tongues.
The Constructive and Destructive Tongue – Build up and Tear Down:
Jeremiah 1:9-10 New Living Translation
9 Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,
“Look, I have put my words in your mouth!
10 Today I appoint you to stand up
against nations and kingdoms.
Some you must uproot and tear down,
destroy and overthrow.
Others you must build up
and plant.”
Principle: Prophesy over your life with intention.
The Tongue is a Rudder – Discipline Your Tongue:
James 3:4-5 New King James Version
4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things…
Principle: Your tongue is like a rudder.
The Tongue has Power – Life and Death:
Matthew 18:18 New International Version
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.
Principle: Understanding your role and the role of the tongue He has given you.
The Content of Your Tongue – Clean and Bitter Water:
James 3:9-12 New International Version
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
Principle: The Pure Water that comes out of your mouth is what nourishes the Purposes of God.
