True Worship

Apostle Duane Swilley and brother AJ Donaldson speak about how worship is done in SPIRIT and in TRUTH and how believers can differentiate between true worship and counterfeit worship.

John 4:20 Amplified Bible

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one ought to worship is in Jerusalem [at the temple].”

Principle- There is spontaneous worship, but you all should have sacred places in your life.

Principle- You usually find what you’re looking for. I’m always looking for God’s presence.

John 4:21-22 Amplified Bible

21 Jesus replied, “Woman, believe Me, a time is coming [when God’s kingdom comes] when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You [Samaritans] do not know what you worship; we [Jews] do know what we worship, for salvation is from the Jews.

Principle- Everybody brings something to the table. Prejudice will kill your worship. Jesus was a Jew, and had nothing to do with Samaritans the woman at the well

Principle- Prejudice against the music styles/genre, lights, smoke, sound volume, personalities, and culture, will limit your worship.

Principle- When the rule and reign of God’s Kingdom is in your life, worship begins to show up everywhere.

Principle- It really is what would Jesus do. WWJD

John 4:23-24 Amplified Bible

23 But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Principle- Half of worship is truth. Spirit without truth is dangerous.

Principle- If you want God seeking you out, live a lifestyle of worship.

Principle- He is everywhere you go. True worship can take place without music, without a praise team, without a preacher and without being inside a building designated as “church.”

Principle- In essence, true worship only requires you and the presence of God. And since the Holy Spirit dwells and abides in you, so does God.

Principle- If God’s telling us what true worshipers do, there must be a counterfeit worshipers.

2 Timothy 3:5 New International Version

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Principle- For worship to be true worship in your life, it must be authentic with you.

Matthew 15:8-10 New International Version

8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.” 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand.

Principle- There is a power in corporate worship. It’s authentic individual worship connected with your brothers and sisters in agreement that makes it 30, 60, or 100 times greater.

Principle- Our threshold to start to worshiping should be very low. It shouldn’t take a lot to get us started. We were created to worship!

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

Principle- Real worship brings you to repentance
