What Love Is
No Ordinary Love part 2
Correction is Love:
Proverbs 3:11-12 New Living Translation
My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
Principle: Correction is the evidence of love.
Principle: Don’t get around people that make you comfortable, get around people that will correct you.
Principle: When you really love somebody, you tell them the truth.
Proverbs 27:6 New International Version
Wounds from a friend can be trusted,
but an enemy multiplies kisses.
Proverbs 27:6 New Living Translation
Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.
Enabling is Not Love:
Principle: When we enable someone we are actually further entrenching someone in their problem.
Love is Courageous:
Principle: Love is Courageous.
Hatred is Not Love:
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.
Principle: Love doesn’t stir up strife. Love covers offenses.
Proverbs 19:11 New Living Translation
Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.
Love Restores:
Galatians 6:1-2 New Living Translation
1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
