You Are The Light part 2
Intro:
Matthew 5:14-16 New Living Translation
14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
The Light On A Stand:
Principle: Unless someone shares the truth, there is no measuring stick for our culture.
Principle: Some people will never know the goodness of God, the person of God and the ways of God unless a light is put on the light stand.
Principle: It is a fundamental part of God‘s plan that you and I shine.
The House:
Matthew 5:15 New Living Translation
15…Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
Psalm 19:1-2 New Living Translation
1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Principle: When you shine, everyone around you benefits from the knowledge of who God is.
John 3:16 New King James Version
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Principle: If you understand God’s love, you’ll understand our responsibility to shine.
Personality:
Mark 16:15 New Living Translation
And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
Principle: Good deeds without the vocabulary that points back to God, confuses the world.
Principle: Good Deeds, without a confession of faith, lack any real power.
Principle: We send mixed signals when we do not attach the Word of God to the Work of God.
Principle: Niceties alone will not save lives.
The Light Off the Stand:

Principle: The idea of hiding your light comes straight from the devil.
Principle: Jesus is always appropriate.
