The Gifts of The Advocate Part 3

Pastor Joshua speaks on the 8 gifts of the spirit continuing from last week’s sermon.

John 14:27 New Living Translation
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:25-26 New Living Translation
25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends The Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Unknown Languages:
The Advocate gives us the gift of Unknown Languages.
Acts 2:1-4 New Living Translation
2 On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they
were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Acts 2:4-6 New Living Translation

4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. 5 At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. 6 When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers.

Encouraging

Ephesians 4:29 New Living Translation
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good
and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those
who hear them.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 New Living Translation
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are
already doing.

Giving

Romans 12:8 New Living Translation
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving,
give generously…

James 2:15-17 New Living Translation
15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

2 Corinthians 9:11-12 New Living Translation
11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12 So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.
