Pastor Joshua teaches on the practical steps we must take to increase and expand our prayer life in order to achieve a life of greater capacity in the Lord.
James 5:13-16 New Living Translation
13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you,
anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Principle: The right prayers have wonderful results!
James 5:17-18 New Living Translation
17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the
earth began to yield its crops.
Principle: To increase capacity we must increase our prayer life.
Luke 11:1-4 New Living Translation
1 Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 Jesus said, “This is how you should pray:
“Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. 3 Give us each day the food we need, 4 and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”
5 Components of The Lord’s Prayer
1. The Holiness of God
2. Kingdom Establishment
3. Personal Needs
4. Forgiveness
5. Temptation
Principle: We must develop a posture before the Lord that we need forgiveness, and we show forgiveness.
Principle: It is in the continuity of our prayer that we find doors opening to us.
Matthew 7:7-8 New International Version
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Principle: Prayer is an important step between needs and provision.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 New Living Translation
16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances…
Ephesians 6:18 New Living Translation
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Principle: Prayer keeps us focused.
James 4:1-3 New Living Translation
4 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
Principle: Prayer helps us be unified.
Principle: We are meant to be house of prayer and people of prayer.
